Rosé was born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1997, and was raised in Melbourne, Australia from the age of seven. He father played a major role in her debut. Familiar with her passion to sing, when he heard about the 2012 YG Entertainment Audition in Australia, he booked her a ticket to the city where it was being held. It is here that she would pass the audition as #1, despite a fierce competition of 700:1. In May of 2012,
Rosé signed as a trainee.

Rosé was featured in fellow Yg Entertainment artist G-Dragon’s song, “Without You” in September, at which point she was not named. However, fans recognized her very unique voice and looked forward to discovering who was the new voice, in which
Rosé would later be revealed.
